....remarkably, around this time the mummified body of Plotinus was discovered in a catacomb. What made this confusing, completely unexpected and monumental discovery even more astonishing was the fact that the body began discoursing at length on the theological dilemmas posed by the development of nanotechnology. No-one had time for these muffled, orotund pronouncements however, and the body was duly cremated....

....as i lay in the trench of my bed, my kidneys nestled close to my spine like two calcified hand grenades, my bowels prowling 'round somewhere down below, i knew the court astrologer would never print a retraction. My war was over....

....i was watching tv. just drinking. heartburning. gradually i realised the coloured light it was emitting like sheets of cellophane was settling into layers of sedimentary luminousity, complete with fossils, faint, maybe the delicate skeletal structures of seraphim; i don't know; i couldn't make them out clearly. the light was seeping upwards, like water filling an aquarium. my lungs felt laden with golden wine.....

....at the far end of the carpark a car alarm ridiculed its own needless existence. the shriek of gulls and salt. returning to their beat-up estate the newlyweds bickered,

"i'm sick of your amateur brontology!"

"it's all going according to plan", smirked the ice cream vendor to himself.....
