Elle Fanning is reportedly in negotiations to star in Predator: Badlands, according to a new report from Deadline.

Few other details were revealed in the report, save that it will definitely have a Predator in it. The news comes after Deadline reported in February that 20th Century is working on a new standalone film in the Predator franchise, with Prey director Dan Trachtenberg directing. Deadline further reported that Trachtenberg will co-write the script with Prey writer Patrick Aison.

Fanning's previous work includes roles in J.J. Abrams' 2011 film Super 8 and as Catherine the Great in The Great. Other films Fanning has appeared in include I Am Sam, Daddy Day Care, We Bought a Zoo, and Maleficent.

Beyond rumors that Fanning may be cast in the film, 20th Century has kept its lips largely sealed. This includes whether or not the film will be released exclusively on Hulu or be released in theatres first.

This is the next film in the Predator franchise following Trachtenberg's 2022 film Prey, which served as a prequel to the first four Predator movies and was released exclusively on Hulu. Following its release, Prey became a massive hit for the streaming service, with Disney revealing in a press release last August that Prey was the most-watched premiere for a single release for both film and TV shows.

According to Deadline, Prey 2 is also still in the works, with plans to return to the film's original setting. Should the film be made, it's unclear if star Amber Midthunder would return.

In our review of Prey, IGN wrote: "With plenty of the Predator franchise's signature brutal kills, a simple but never simplistic story, and a star-making turn from Amber Midthunder… Prey slays."
